Urges Yatris To Stay Put In Camps, Says Admin Trying Best To Restore Yatra At The Earliest
Srinagar, July 09: Earlier today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presided over a high-level gathering to discuss the ongoing rescue and relief effort at Shri Amarnath ji sacred cave.
A two-minute moment of silence was observed at the meeting, which was attended by the GoC 15 Corps, the DGP, the ACS Home, the Special DG CID, the ADGP Kashmir, the AOC Air Force, the Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, and other senior officials.
The Lt Governor received a briefing from Sh Dilbag Singh, DGP and Lt Gen AS Aujla, GoC 15 Corps, regarding the ongoing rescue attempts at the holy cave. According to the GoC, all the organisations involved in the rescue and relief efforts are coordinating very effectively and have the necessary tools to clear the debris.
The Lt Governor said the effort should be made to clear the debris within shortest period of time. DGP while briefing the Lt Governor about the injured devotees said, majority of the injured have already been discharged and few others being treated at base hospital and Srinagar likely to be discharged within 24 hours.
The Lt Governor said, teams from Army, CAPFs, NDRF & SDRF are on the ground and doing commendable job.
“I request Yatris to stay put in camps. Administration is providing all facilities for their comfortable stay. We are trying our best to restore the Yatra at the earliest,” Lt Governor said.
He also directed the senior officials, Deputy Commissioners and Camp directors to ensure best possible facilities are provided to the pilgrims staying at camps.
Later, Lt. Governor travelled to PCR Srinagar to learn the status of returning the lifeless remains of deceased pilgrims to their respective hometowns after earlier visiting SKIMS to inquire about the condition of injured pilgrims.
Senior officials and Sh Nitishwar Kumar, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor, along with Sh R K Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department, Sh RR Swain, Special DG CID, Sh Vijay Kumar, IGP Kashmir, and AOC Air Force, attended the meeting at Raj Bhawan.(GNS)
