Poonch, January 15, 2026(M S Nazki): Security forces reported sighting a drone-like flying object along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Degwar area of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday evening. The object hovered near an army post, prompting troops to fire nearly 40 rounds in an attempt to neutralize it, though it escaped after briefly crossing into Indian territory before returning to the Pakistan side.indiablooms+2
This marks the third such drone sighting in the Poonch-Jammu region within five days, following incidents on January 10-14 where forces fired at suspected Pakistani drones in Degwar, Samba, and Rajouri sectors. Pakistani forces are known to use drones for smuggling arms, drugs, and supplies to terrorists across the LoC.ndtv+2
The incident has intensified security alerts, with ground searches and anti-drone measures ongoing amid over 20 sightings reported along the LoC and International Border in the past week.
