Srinagar, May 4(Sikander Gulzar): Continuous heavy rainfall has devastated Bagander Machihama village in Tral, causing extensive damage to crops, roads, and homes. The village, situated at the foothills, was overwhelmed by a sudden surge of rainwater, leading to widespread destruction.
Locals reported that the heavy downpour caused flooding of agricultural fields, blocked key roads, and partially damaged several houses. Hailstorms accompanying the rain exacerbated the situation, destroying standing crops and distressing farmers.
Residents attribute the severity of the flooding to the lack of a functional drainage system. ‘There was a drainage system, but it’s been blocked, and now the village floods every time it rains heavily,’ a local resident lamented.
With farming being the primary livelihood source for most villagers, the crop loss has sparked serious concerns. Locals have urged the administration to provide immediate assistance and compensation for the damages.
