NEW DELHI | March 11, 2026: A high-level national delegation of Indian interfaith leaders visited the Iran Culture House in New Delhi today to offer their deep condolences following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
The delegation, representing India’s diverse religious and spiritual fabric, met with Dr. Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, the Special Representative of the Supreme Leader of Iran in India, to convey the sympathies of the Indian spiritual community.
Leadership and Representation
The visit was led by Mahamandleshwar Shri Guruji Goswami Sushil Giri Ji Maharaj, National Convener of the Bhartiya Sarv Dharm Sansad (Indian Parliament of Interfaith Forum), and Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Gaddi Nashin of Dargah Ajmer Sharif and Chairman of the Chishty Foundation.

A Message of Global Peace
During the meeting, the leaders recorded their messages in the official Book of Condolences. Beyond the formal tribute, the delegation held collective prayers for world peace, specifically mentioning the safety of innocent civilians—children, women, and the elderly—currently caught in regions of war and violence.

The delegation emphasized that the “centuries-old tradition of interfaith harmony in India stands as a pillar for compassion and mutual respect among nations.”
Strengthening Civilizational Ties
The leaders highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual bonds between India and Iran, noting that these historic ties have long enriched the intellectual heritage of both nations. The visit concluded with a call for global humanity to move toward a path of justice, wisdom, and peaceful coexistence.
“India and Iran share a civilizational bond that transcends borders. In this hour of grief, we stand with the people of Iran and pray for strength and peace for all his followers,” the delegation stated in a joint message.
