Date:

Srinagar, Jul 13 (Babar Rather): A 14-year-old boy was discovered drowned in Madhumati Nallah, and after a rescue operation, his body was pulled from the water source this morning. The boy had apparently gone “missing” from his house on Tuesday.

Local sources confirmed to GNS that one Zahid Ahmad Magray, a son of Maqsood Ahmad Magray, left his home yesterday at around 4 PM (Tuesday). “The family reached out to the neighbours and relatives after the boy didn’t return to see if he may have been at any of the places, but once they didn’t get any satisfactory response, they approached the police to file a missing report this morning,” they said, adding that the boy was later found drowned by in Madhumati Nallah close to Goiwar area of Sonerwani.

It took the squad around an hour to fish out the body from the nallah “shortly after a coordinated rescue effort begun by SDRF, MARCOS, police and army,” they claimed.

A police official confirmed the occurrence and informed GNS that a case has been filed into the subject under the appropriate provisions. He continued, “The facts would be taken into serious account to ascertain if had it been an accident or had there been any foul play. We would look into the likely cause that led to his drowning.”
