Boniyar, Jan 12 (Zaffer Iqbal): A major fire erupted in the upper reaches of the Naloosa forest area in Boniyar, destroying several green trees. A video of the blaze went viral on social media, sparking panic among nearby residents.
Locals told us that miscreants deliberately set the forest ablaze for personal gain, noting that such incidents have become recurrent. They urged authorities to identify those responsible and take strict action.
A senior police officer said teams from the police and Forest Department rushed to the site immediately after the outbreak to contain the blaze. “The majority of the fire has been brought under control. However, it remains active in some upper areas. There is no threat to residential areas,” he added.
The officer further stated that police, forest officials, and fire service personnel continue to work at the site. “An investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated,” he said.
