Poonch, July 31 ( M S Nazki): A flash flood occurred in Poonch district’s Surankote town this evening, causing damage to vehicles as well as houses and shops, reports and officials said.
They said that there was heavy spurt of rainfall for around half an hour, resulting in flash floods.
Several vehicles were washed away in the flash floods, mainly augmented by the blockade of the drainage in the town, they said. Besides, the gushing water entered several houses and shops, causing damage to the goods inside them.
While no casualty has been reported in the incident so far, a senior officer of the administration told GNS that assessment of the damage is being carried out.
SDM Surankote Naheem-ul-Nisa Bhati told GNS that flash floods happened by drainage blockade. “We are assessing the damage,” the SDM added. (GNS Input)
