New Delhi, November 1, 2025: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) called on political parties in Bihar to avoid hate speech, communal division, and misuse of money or muscle power in the upcoming Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference, JIH Vice President Prof. Salim Engineer emphasized the importance of voting as a sacred duty for strengthening democracy and urged voters to judge candidates on their integrity and vision for addressing key issues like poverty, unemployment, education, health, and justice. He appealed to the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls with strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and expressed confidence in Bihar’s tradition of political awareness and social harmony.
Addressing the alarming rise in crimes against women, Prof. Salim highlighted recent cases involving sexual violence and exploitation, revealing a deeper societal and ethical crisis beyond just law enforcement failures. Citing the NCRB’s 2023 report recording over 4.4 lakh crimes against women, he demanded victim-centered justice, speedy trials, and gender-sensitivity training for police, judiciary, and healthcare workers. He called for a mass movement toward moral regeneration to restore respect, dignity, and fear of God in society.
Meanwhile, Nadeem Khan, Secretary of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), spotlighted the prolonged detention of anti-CAA political prisoners from the 2020 Delhi riots case, criticizing the misuse of the UAPA law and politically motivated police opposition to bail. He called for prioritizing bail hearings by the Supreme Court and safeguarding democratic rights against suppression. JIH and APCR jointly urged all authorities to ensure justice free from political interference, underscoring that freedom to dissent is essential to democracy.
This joint stance from JIH and APCR highlights key election-related concerns and pressing human rights issues demanding immediate attention.
