New Delhi, September 02, 2025: In a prestigious recognition of his academic contributions, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), has been invited to serve as a Visiting Professor at the South Asia Centre for Peace Research & Sustainable Development, Lumbini Buddhist University, Nepal.
The Centre is dedicated to advancing scholarship in peacebuilding, diplomacy, regional cooperation, and sustainable development at the global level.
Expressing his gratitude, Prof. Rizvi stated that he looked forward to contributing to research and initiatives that strengthen peace efforts and foster greater regional collaboration.

A well-known academician, administrator, and scholar, Prof. Rizvi brings with him over two decades of teaching and research experience. He took charge as the regular Registrar of JMI on March 12, 2025, for a five-year term. Before this, he served as Director of the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution at JMI.
Over the years, Prof. Rizvi has also worked with leading government institutions and think tanks, including the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA), New Delhi. His expertise lies in international relations, foreign policy, and security studies, with specialized focus areas such as Iran’s nuclear program, peacebuilding in South and West Asia, conflict studies in West Asia–North Africa, and Iran-China relations.
In addition, he has held several distinguished positions, including Visitor’s Nominee to the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Court since 2022 and external member of the Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad. He also contributes to the academic boards of several Centres and Departments at JMI.
A Ph.D. in Political Science (International Relations) from AMU, Prof. Rizvi was also awarded the prestigious Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Scholarship for his doctoral research.
Widely respected in academic circles in India and abroad, Prof. Rizvi is recognized as a prolific scholar and an influential voice in the field of peace and conflict studies.
