Srinagar, Nov 15: A devastating explosion inside Nowgam Police Station has claimed the life of Inspector Shah Asrar, along with nine others, casting a pall of grief over the police force and local community. The incident, which occurred during an assessment of recently recovered explosive materials, also left 29 people injured.
Inspector Asrar, son of Habibullah Shah and a resident of Muqam Shahwali, was widely respected for his bravery, professionalism, and compassionate approach to policing. Colleagues described him as a sincere and responsible officer who served the public with unwavering dedication. His commitment to duty and kindness towards others earned him deep admiration within the force.
“Inspector Asrar was not just a courageous officer but also a warm-hearted individual who always put public welfare above himself,” one of his colleagues recalled. Many within the police department and the broader community echoed similar sentiments, noting that his loss has left a void that will be difficult to fill.
Condolences have poured in from police officials, civil society members, and local residents, all expressing shock, sorrow, and solidarity with the bereaved family.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities continue to assess the aftermath of the fatal blast.
