Srinagar, December 17: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and the financial networks supporting the narcotics trade, Srinagar Police have attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.5 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The action pertains to a case registered at Police Station Shalteng.
According to a police statement shared with GNS, the attachment has been carried out in connection with FIR No. 75/2025 under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act, following a detailed financial investigation conducted in accordance with Chapter V-A of the Act.
During the investigation, police conducted a comprehensive inquiry into the assets of the accused and his family members. Scrutiny of revenue records, property documents, field verification reports, valuation inputs, and witness statements revealed that a two-storey residential house—constructed during 2018–2019—was acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking.
It was further established that the legitimate income sources of the accused and his family members were insufficient to justify the acquisition and construction of the said property. The funds used were found to be unexplained, disproportionate, and directly linked to narcotics-related activities.
Following these findings, freezing orders under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act have been issued, prohibiting any sale, transfer, mortgage, or third-party interest in the attached property until further directions from the Competent Authority. The order was duly served upon the concerned individuals in the presence of independent witnesses.
Srinagar Police reaffirmed their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and vowed to continue taking strict legal action, including attachment and freezing of illegally acquired assets, to dismantle the financial backbone of the narcotics network, the statement added.
