You can see Venus and Jupiter appear to collide tonight.

According to the BBC, the two brightest planets in our solar system, Venus and Jupiter, will appear to be very close tonight.

While the planets will be about 430 million miles apart, they will appear to be almost colliding from Earth. This is referred to as planetary conjunction.

This rare celestial dance will most likely occur in 2039 and will be visible with the naked eye in a clear sky.

The planets will part ways and drift apart after tonight.

“It’s very exciting for astronomers, and it’s a really great opportunity for people to get out and look,” said Prof Lucie Green, space scientist and chief stargazer at the Society for Popular Astronomy.

The best time to watch the conjunction is after 9:00 p.m., but it will be visible for the next few nights as it gradually moves away.

Pre-dawn viewing is ideal, as planets are close to the horizon. Because they will be low in the sky, it is essential to be on a high point, such as a rooftop, to enjoy the view.

Those with a telescope will be able to enjoy it the most. Some of Jupiter’s largest moons may be visible. They may also be able to see Mars and Saturn in addition to the two bright planets.
