Srinagar, 30 July: In Srinagar, the police said on Saturday that they had detained three robbers, among them a woman, and recovered stolen gold and cash.
According to a handout the police gave to GNS, Kartik Sardar, the son of Sitaram Sardar, who lives in Hogli, West Bengal and works as a goldsmith at Sarai Payeen Srinagar, reported that during the previous night of July 26/27, 2022, some unidentified intruders broke into his jewellery workshop and stole gold jewellery.
A case FIR No. 60/2022 U/S 457, 380 IPC was lodged in Police Station Shergarhi upon receipt of this complaint, according to the statement, and an inquiry was launched. Tahir Ahmad Mir, 90, a resident of Harden Siver Khurhama Lolab Kupwara, was named as the suspect after technological evidence and CCTV images from the area of the incident were examined. After two days of arduous work, the offender was arrested.
Two additional defendants in the current case, Jameela @ Jabeena, the wife of Tahir Ahmad Mir and a resident of Harden Siver Khurhama Lolab Kupwara, and Irshad Hussain Yattoo, the son of Muhammad Akbar Yattoo and a resident of Sultanpora Pattan Baramullah, have both been arrested based on their confessional statements. In the current case, all of the stolen property totaling Rs. 650000 has been retrieved from their custody. Three golden neck collars, one golden neckless, one golden pandey, six golden earrings, one bracelet, and cash totaling Rs. 1,10,500 were among the stolen or recovered items, according to the authorities.
According to the statement, the investigation into the current case is ongoing, and further recoveries are anticipated. (GNS Input)
