‘Dastaan-e-Dev Anand’ Draws Applause and Sing-Alongs Throughout the Show in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: It was a night of pure nostalgia, packed houses, and spontaneous sing-alongs as ‘Dastaan-e-Dev Anand’ took the stage at the Eternal Oasis in Sector 42 on Saturday, July 18. The unique musical storytelling presentation, which celebrates the life and enduring legacy of Indian cinema’s ultimate evergreen legend, left the audience spellbound and cheering for more.

Presented by the Three Arts Club and Katyayani in association with Eternal Oasis, the production seamlessly wove together dramatic storytelling, live music, and rare behind-the-scenes anecdotes, taking attendees on an emotional journey through Dev Anand’s extraordinary cinematic career.

A Family Tribute and Stellar Performances

The evening held a deeply personal touch, led by Sohaila Kapur—Dev Anand’s niece—who wore multiple hats as the show’s writer, director, and narrator. Sharing the stage with her was Nidhikant Pandey, whose Hindi dramatic transcreation and co-narration added a rich, theatrical dimension that kept the audience hooked from start to finish.

The musical backbone of the evening was carried by Akashvani A-Grade vocalist Devanand Jha, who brought Dev Anand’s timeless playback melodies back to life. He was deftly supported by Jitu Nadan on keyboards and Adhir Das on tabla, prompting the packed house to enthusiastically join in on virtually every chorus.

The immersive experience was further heightened by Burhan Qureshi’s evocative lighting design and seamless sound engineering by Ajay.
