Jamia Millia Islamia Signs MoUs with Top Life Sciences Firms for NEP-Aligned Research

NEW DELHI: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading life sciences firms, NuLife Pvt. Ltd. and NextGen Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. The strategic partnerships aim to bridge academic learning and market demands by expanding research, skill development, and industry-oriented training.

The agreements were formally signed on September 14, 2026, at JMI’s Faculty of Life Sciences in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif, Registrar Prof. M. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, and Dean Prof. Mohammad Zahid Ashraf.

Strengthening Life Sciences Research

Under the agreements, JMI Registrar Prof. M. Mahtab Alam Rizvi formally exchanged documents with representatives from both organizations:

  • NuLife Pvt. Ltd.: Managing Director Mr. Nadeem Rahman represented the New Delhi-based healthcare and diagnostics company. NuLife specializes in molecular biology products, clinical diagnostic tools, metabolomic and genomic research, and AI/ML-driven small-molecule screening for drug discovery.
  • NextGen Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.: Founder and CEO Dr. Nagma Abbasi represented the firm, which delivers solutions across molecular biology, genomics, sequencing, and bioinformatics.

Focus on NEP 2020 and Student Opportunities

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020—which prioritizes practical learning and stronger industry linkages—the collaboration will provide students with internships, dissertation support, hands-on exposure, and industry-led research projects.

Highlighting the scope of the partnership, event coordinator Prof. Shama Parveen from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences noted that the tie-ups will drive sustained knowledge exchange and practical innovation.
