With the experience of 30 years they decided to go Afghanistan.
Visiting Afghanistan was extremely a new challenge for me as well as for Ashraf. The situation in Afghanistan was extremely volatile. Keeping in view Afghanistanโs situation I still went there at risk.
Once we reached Afghanistan the place we first visited was Kandahar the most dangerous city where the well known Indian journalist Danish Sidique was killed. Everything was deserted there as everybody was afraid of the situation. So, when we went out to shoot we reached the jail where the Talibanโs were imprisoned. I and Ashraf also met Afghan forces who greeted us generously and they made us alert and told us to shoot within 15mins only. So, after shooting the situation of Kandahar City we went to few parts of the city there.
It was very tough for us to communicate with the people of Afghanistan as they were only knowing their native language(Pashto).
It was not an easy task for me to take out the camera, and capture the situation. We used to change the hotel every single day, one of the people told us as this could be dangerous for us to stay in same of the hotel.
So, the next day it was Eid-ul-Fitr and itโs doesnโt seem to be an occasion for the Afghaniโs as terror was among the people. No more Eid Prayers was offered on that day.
And then we went to Kabul and from there we visited Jalalabad where the situation was as same as Kandahar. It was too risky for us to be in that kind of atmosphere where we wasnโt knowing, whether we will be back home or not. As I was having experience of 27 years I have been shooting these kind of situations and Iโm used to this situation. Really it was a great experience and a challenging situation in my entire life.
