New Delhi, August 25, 2025: The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) marked the successful completion of its two-week multidisciplinary refresher course on Artificial Intelligence in hybrid mode with a valedictory session held on 22nd August, 2025. The broad theme of the course was ‘AI as a Catalyst for Academic Synergy’.
The valedictory address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, who congratulated the Honorary Director, Prof Kulwinder Kaur and her team at MMTTC for organising the refresher course on such a pertinent theme. Prof Rizvi was given a virtual tour of the two weeks developments through a brief AV documentary prepared by MMTTC’s technical team under the guidance of the Director and the coordinators. He applauded the contributions of Prof Mansaf Alam, Department of Computer Science, Prof Sarfaraz Masood, Department of computer engineering and Dr Khalid Raza, Department of computer science for inviting eminent experts to curate an enriching experience for the participants. He underlined the importance of adopting AI in our every day lives but also sensitized all the participants towards the need to be ethical and cautious while doing so.
Over the two weeks, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 81 faculty members from a diversity of Institutions across India. The sessions were designed to be multidisciplinary, featuring experts not only from Computer Science but also from Medicine, Agriculture, Management, and Finance; fostering a rich exchange of perspectives and ideas.
The course brought together eminent speakers from 11 Indian states, representing leading institutions and delivering lectures on various areas of AI. Delhi-based scholars played a significant role, including Prof. Zahid Raza (JNU), who presented ‘AI: Hype and Facts’; Prof. Farheen Siddiqui (Jamia Hamdard), spoke on ‘AI in Healthcare’; Prof. D.K. Lobyal (JNU), addressed ‘Machine Learning: Limits and Beyond’; Dr Anuragh Singh of NIT Delhi introduced ‘Generative AI and ChatGPT’; Dr Ompal, from Delhi university gave a talk on quantum computing for AI systems; Dr Kiran Chaudhary, examined AI ethical practices; Prof Indrakant K Singh, explored AI in bioinformatics; Prof. Pravin Chandra of IP University discussed neural networks and their applications, while IGNOU scholars such as Prof. Divakar Yadav, Prof. Sandeep Singh Rawat and Prof. Manohar Lal contributed sessions on AI in academic writing, AI in agriculture and emerging trends in AI. Jamia Millia Islamia, Central University was represented by Prof. Suraiya Jabin, Prof. Mohammad Amjad, Prof. Tanvir Ahmad, Dr. Tanvir, Dr Mohd Zeeshan Ansari, Prof. Ravins, Prof. Rafat Parveen, provided hands-on-training and lectures on neural networks, supervised learning, finance and seminar-based AI applications.
Further contributions were made by experts from Uttar Pradesh, including Prof. Rashid Ali and Prof. M.M. Sufyan Beg of Aligarh Muslim University, spoke on Cybersecurity Using AI and ML and AI Tools for Effective Research. Prof. Asif Ekbal of IIT Patna, Bihar delivered specialized lectures and hands-on sessions on Deep Learning for Natural Language Processing. Prof. Satwinder Singh, Dean, Central University of Punjab, talked about Large Language Models for Teachers and Researchers., Prof. Alok Singh, University of Hyderabad, discussed the Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm and Its Applications, Prof. Syed Imtiyaz Hassan, MANUU, presented on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability, and Prof. Salman Abdul Moiz, University of Hyderabad, addressed Ethics and AI Governance. Speaker from Karnataka Prof. Mohd. Rafi, University BDT College of Engineering, highlighted AI and Its Importance in the Present Era. Similarly, Dr. Chanchal Kumar, IIIT Sonepat, who conducted a hands-on session on AI in Finance: Advanced Techniques and Applications. Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed, MNIT Jaipur, who lectured on Thread Optimization in OpenMP-Based Parallelization Using Machine Learning. Prof. Atul M. Gonsai, Saurashtra University, Gujarat explored Applications of AI using Machine Learning; Prof. M. Tanvir, IIT Indore, presented Large-Scale Machine Learning Algorithms and Applications. From University of Jammu, Prof. Vinod Sharma and Dr. Sandeep Arya, spoke on Generative AI and Multimodal Systems: A New Era; and AI in Electronics.
As per the UGC mandate, the participants were made to undergo intensive assessment exercises to check their learning outcomes. These included the MCQ Test, group presentation on themes related to Artificial Intelligence. Both the online as well offline participants, in the feedback session, interacted with Prof Rizvi and assured him that the knowledge gained from this refresher course would enable them to engage more effectively with emerging AI technologies in their academic and research pursuits. This was followed by the distribution of certificates by the Chief Guest and the group photographs with the offline as well online participants. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Mr Ameerullah Siddiqui on behalf of MMTTC, JMI.
