JIH President Expresses Deep Concern Over PM’s Israel Visit Amidst Gaza Humanitarian Crisis

Date:

New Delhi: Syed Sadatullah Husaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), has expressed profound disappointment and grave concern regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel. The President highlighted that the visit and public engagements with Israeli leadership come at a time when Gaza is enduring one of the most severe humanitarian catastrophes in modern history.

In a statement to the media, Mr. Husaini noted that the Prime Minister’s public posture during the visit has deeply disappointed millions of Indians. He emphasized that India has a storied history as a defender of the oppressed and a global voice for justice.

“At a time when the United Nations and international human rights organizations have flagged actions in Gaza as potential war crimes and acts consistent with genocide, the absence of an unambiguous condemnation from India is both unexpected and painful,” the statement read.

The JIH President reminded the leadership that India’s global moral stature was built on civilizational values—justice, compassion, and solidarity—rather than mere strategic interests. He observed that Israel’s prolonged occupation and the ongoing destruction in Gaza represent a “grave moral crisis for humanity.”

He further stressed that India’s own freedom struggle was a fight against colonial domination. By remaining silent or appearing morally ambiguous in the face of mass suffering, India risks diminishing its legacy and weakening its credibility as a principled leader of the Global South.

Reaffirming the organization’s stance, Mr. Husaini stated that JIH’s support for Palestinian rights is rooted in universal moral principles. He concluded by asserting that India’s true strength lies in its “moral voice,” which must guide its leadership during moments of historic injustice.
