Srinagar, August 14: In an ongoing chance encounter that happened on Sunday night in the Nowhatta neighbourhood of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district, a police officer was hurt.
A senior police officer informed GNS that a police officer has been hurt during the continuing shooting at Nowhatta.
As this story was being filed intermittent firing between police and militants was going on.
Meanwhile Kashmir Police Zone tweeted, “Chance encounter started in Nowhatta area of Srinagar. Police & CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow.
In a tweet, The Kashmir Police Zone wrote, ” In the ongoing encounter, one police personnel namely Ct Sarfaraz Ahmad R/O Batote Ramban got injured. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment. One militant t also got injured. Search still going on. Further details shall follow.
Meanwhile injured cop is being treated at 92 Base Hospital where is condition is said to stable so far.
