New Delhi, December 10, 2025: The Department of Civil Engineering at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been awarded a prestigious research project worth ₹1.53 crore by NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Government of India.
The project focuses on developing high-performance concrete using advanced materials such as nano cement and nano additives. The research team will be led by Dr. Ibadur Rahman, Principal Investigator, and Dr. M. Amir Mazhar, both from the Department of Civil Engineering. Dr. Rahman, who holds several patents in advanced cement and concrete technologies, aims to create innovative solutions that boost the durability and sustainability of construction materials.
The project was conceptualized under the guidance of Prof. Farhan A. Kidwai and Prof. Quamrul Hassan, Head of the Department. Prof. Hassan expressed his gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi for fostering a strong research-driven culture at the university.
He noted that this collaboration with NBCC reflects JMI’s growing emphasis on practical, industry-focused research. “The Department is honored to receive this support from NBCC. It marks a major step toward transforming cutting-edge nano-materials research into sustainable solutions for India’s infrastructure sector,” Prof. Hassan added.
The initiative aligns with JMI’s and NBCC’s shared vision of advancing application-oriented research that addresses the nation’s critical infrastructure and sustainability needs.
