JMI’s Faculty of Dentistry Hosts IBO Awareness Programme on Board Certification

Jamia Millia Islamia’s Faculty of Dentistry organized the IBO Awareness Programme “Blueprint to Board Certification” in collaboration with IOS and OsGOD in New Delhi.

New Delhi, January 7, 2026: The Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), in collaboration with the Indian Board of Orthodontics (IBO)Indian Orthodontic Society (IOS), and the Orthodontic Study Group of Delhi (OsGOD), organized the “IBO Awareness Programme – Blueprint to Board Certification” at the FTK-CIT Conference Hall, JMI, on January 5, 2026.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, in the presence of Prof. Ashu Bharadwaj, Officiating Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, along with several distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, practicing orthodontists, postgraduate students, and dental professionals. In his address, Prof. Rizvi highlighted the importance of ethical clinical practice, evidence-based treatment, systematic documentation, and continuous professional development—values that define JMI’s academic and clinical ethos.

More than 90 delegates participated in the event, including faculty, private practitioners, and postgraduate students from dental institutions across Delhi–NCR. The scientific sessions featured structured presentations on IBO Certification Categories I to V, delivered by esteemed IBO board members — Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram ManoharProf. (Dr) Ajit KaliaDr. Ashish GargDr. Kiran Kumar H. C., and Prof. (Dr) Sunanda Roychoudhury.

The programme commenced with an update from Prof. Maninder S. Sidhu, Convener, OsGOD, who then invited Prof. (Dr) Mala Ram Manohar, Chairman, IBO, to deliver the opening lecture. Prof. Manohar introduced the audience to the newly published IBO Index, explaining its framework and practical utility in clinical assessment and documentation. The sessions provided insights into case selection, evaluation criteria, and presentation standards, guiding participants in effective board certification preparation.

A key highlight of the event was the interactive session titled “IBO Certification & Me — From Aspiration to Achievement”, featuring Prof. (Dr) Puneet Batra, Immediate Past President, IOS, and Group Captain (Dr) Mohit Sharma. Both speakers shared their personal experiences and perspectives on professional growth through board certification.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session and vote of thanks by Prof. Harneet Kaur, Professor of Orthodontics, JMI, and Convener, OsGOD. She extended her appreciation to the guest speakers, organizers, faculty, and delegates for their enthusiastic participation and collective support in making the event a success.
