New Delhi, October 13, 2025: Recently, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi held a meeting with the Honourable Chancellor (Amir-e-Jamia) of JMI and leader of the global Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, in Surat.
The discussions centered on the university’s development and key institutional priorities, with special emphasis on current growth and future plans. Important topics included the proposed establishment of a Medical College and Hospital, the launch of postgraduate MDS programmes in the Faculty of Dentistry, preparations for the forthcoming Convocation, and the construction of a new Girls’ Hostel to support the expanding student body.
His Holiness applauded Jamia Millia Islamia for its academic achievements and contributions to national progress. He assured the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of his ongoing support and blessings for the university’s continued success. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet His Holiness’s elder brother, Prince Qaidjoher Ezzuddin.
Additionally, the team visited Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy, the community’s skill development centers, and women’s empowerment programs. These visits provided valuable insights into the community’s inclusive approaches to education and social welfare, which resonate with JMI’s vision of education as a means to promote equity, empowerment, and nation-building.
Prof. Asif and Prof. Rizvi described the meeting with the Honourable Chancellor as both motivating and enlightening, providing guidance that reinforced their commitment to enhancing JMI’s role as a hub of academic excellence and social responsibility.
