NAGPUR, MAHARASHTRA: In a powerful demonstration of unity amid rising global tensions, the Sufi Interfaith Conference for National Integration, Unity in Diversity and Harmony of Hearts kicked off on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The historic event, commemorating the 104th Annual Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Baba Tajuddin Awliya (R.A.), drew a massive crowd of over 100,000 devotees from diverse faith traditions to the Baba Tajuddin Dargah.

The opening day was marked by the grand Parcham Kushai (ceremonial flag-hoisting), setting a vibrant tone for a gathering envisioned as India’s spiritual antidote to a world fractured by war, racism, and divisiveness.

A Confluence of Diverse Faiths

The high-profile conference was convened under the aegis of the Bhartiya Sarv Dharam Sansad, spearheaded by National Convener Maharshi Bhrigu Peethadhishwar Shri Guruji Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, alongside Haji Syed Salman Chishty (Gaddi Nashin, Dargah Ajmer Sharif) of the Chishty Foundation.

The event was hosted by the Baba Tajuddin Awliya Trust, led by Chairman Janab Pyare Zia Khan—who also serves as the Chairman of the Maharashtra State Minority Commission—and Secretary Janab Taj Ahmed.

“At a time when the world is passing through wars, racism, and the blatant misuse of power… India offers her timeless answer: the path of the Sufi Saints, Gurus, Yogis, and Awliya Allah. This dargah is a living school of harmony.” — Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Chishty Foundation
