JIH President Condemns Extremism, Highlights Security Lapses and Community Stereotyping Following Red Fort Blast

Date:

New Delhi, November 29, 2025: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, strongly condemned all forms of extremism and radicalisation during a press conference at the JIH headquarters. Husaini voiced deep concerns over ongoing national issues, including security failures, community stereotyping in media, worsening air pollution, problems with Waqf property registration, and challenges faced during Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase II.

Addressing the recent Red Fort blast in Delhi, Husaini said, “We condemn in the strongest terms this brutal act that took innocent lives. JIH stands against every form of radicalisation, extremism, and violence—regardless of the perpetrator or motive. Terrorism goes against human dignity and civilised values and must be opposed by every segment of society.” He also pointed to worrying security lapses in the Red Fort and the Nowgam police station blast in Srinagar, which resulted in numerous casualties, as a sign of persistent vulnerabilities in the nation’s security apparatus.

The JIH president called out the growing trend of community stereotyping and vilification in the aftermath of terror attacks. “Such media narratives deepen social divisions and play into the hands of those who wish to spread terror. Stereotyping entire communities is dangerous and must stop,” Husaini emphasised.

On environmental issues, Husaini urged the government to adopt a comprehensive, science-based strategy to tackle air pollution, focusing on strict regulation of vehicles and industries, farmer-friendly crop residue solutions, and expanding clean public transport. He stressed the need for proactive, year-round measures rather than limited, episodic actions to protect public health and livelihoods.

Discussing the ongoing registration of Waqf properties, JIH highlighted its national help desk, a network of trained volunteers, and workshops to assist mutawallis through the UMEED portal. Husaini requested an extension of the registration deadline and urgent resolution of technical issues. He reiterated JIH’s opposition to the Waqf Amendment Act, stating it undermines the constitutional rights of minorities.

Regarding SIR Phase II, Husaini raised alarm over the heavy workload on Booth Level Officers (BLOs), reported deaths, severe stress, and lack of transparency. He demanded that the Election Commission clarify SIR’s scope, ensure it does not become a citizenship check, provide more staff and support for BLOs, extend deadlines, and establish robust redressal mechanisms.

JIH Vice President Prof. Salim Engineer and Malik Motasim Khan also addressed the media, reiterating the organisation’s commitment to peaceful, rights-based advocacy on national issues.
