JMI’s Malaviya Mission Centre successfully concludes its 20th Faculty Induction Programme, enhancing teacher training in New Delhi.
New Delhi, December 30, 2025: The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), successfully concluded its 20th one-month Faculty Induction Programme (FIP) held in offline mode from December 1 to 29, 2025. Designed in accordance with the Gurudakshta guidelines, the programme aimed to equip newly appointed faculty members with essential pedagogical, ethical, and professional competencies aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Focused on fostering a holistic understanding of higher education and nurturing reflective teaching professionals, the FIP featured 96 expert sessions conducted by distinguished scholars, academic leaders, and policymakers from across the country. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from newly recruited faculty members representing diverse disciplines in both public and private higher education institutions.
The programme was efficiently coordinated by Prof. Bharti Sharma, Professor, Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education, and Director, CJNS, along with Dr. Afaque Nadeem Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies, JMI. It was conducted under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Kulwinder Kaur, Honorary Director, MMTTC-JMI, with the dedicated support of the MMTTC team.
Eminent experts and resource persons from various institutions across India—including central universities such as JMI, DU, JNU, IGNOU, AMU, MANUU, the Central University of Gujarat, and the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, as well as state and private universities like IPU, SGT, MRIU, G.D. Goenka, and Gurugram University—delivered insightful lectures on themes such as higher education policies and ecosystem, curriculum design, ethics and integrity in research, technology-enabled learning, student engagement, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and professional development. The month-long academic discourse integrated perspectives from policy, practice, and pedagogy.
The inaugural address by Prof. Anita Rastogi, Dean, Faculty of Education, JMI, set the tone for the programme with her insightful talk on “Higher Education in the Indian and Global Context.” Eminent scholars including Prof. Susmita Lakhyani (DU), Prof. Sudheer Kumar Singh (DU), Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahmad (JMI), Prof. Sajid Jamal (AMU), Prof. Gaurav Singh (DU), Prof. Satendra Gupta (Galgotias University), and Dr. Aftab Ansari (AMU) addressed critical issues related to higher education policy, innovation, inclusion, assessments, reforms, and digital pedagogies.
Several lectures by experienced academicians such as Prof. Ahrar Husain (JMI), Prof. V.S. Sumi (MANUU), Prof. Piyush Pratap (JNU), Dr. Aerum Khan (JMI), Prof. Bharti Dogra (IGNOU), Prof. Manju Khari (JNU), Prof. Padma Yadav (NCERT), Mr. Dibyanshu Pandey (Sr. Advocate, Supreme Court), Prof. Pradeep Kumar Misra (NIEPA), and Prof. K.K. Kusuma (JMI) offered participants a balanced blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights. Skill-based workshops on intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, blended learning, MOOCs, and instructional design further enhanced participants’ professional capabilities.
Recognizing the multidisciplinary nature of higher education, the FIP also explored the intersections of education with law, public health, gender equity, environment, tourism, and space innovation. Senior administrative leaders from NCERT, SCERT, NIEPA, ICSSR, and Web of Science provided valuable institutional and regulatory perspectives. Motivational sessions on emotional intelligence, wellness, work-life balance, and stress management added depth to the programme.
During the final week, participants made theme-based presentations to demonstrate how they would apply insights gained from the FIP in their discipline-specific teaching practices. A multiple-choice evaluation test was also conducted by the coordinators in line with UGC guidelines. The concluding sessions included thought-provoking discussions on the transformative role of faculty in shaping the evolving higher education ecosystem.
In the valedictory session, Prof. Kulwinder Kaur and Prof. Bharti Sharma presented an overview of the programme. The valedictory address was delivered by Prof. Mehtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, JMI, who spoke on the role of teachers in democracy and nation-building, drawing from classical philosophical traditions. Prof. Rizvi also highlighted key policy initiatives under the NEP 2020, such as the inclusion of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) and promotion of regional languages. He encouraged participants to share feedback and suggestions to further strengthen future MMTTC programmes.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for the design and execution of the programme, acknowledging the efforts of the coordinators, resource persons, the Director, and the entire MMTTC team. The session concluded with a short film highlighting the major events of the FIP, followed by a certificate distribution ceremony. Mr. Akram Ansari delivered the formal vote of thanks on behalf of the MMTTC team, marking the close of a successful and enriching programme.
