Srinagar, November 12: In a significant operation against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), Kulgam Police carried out raids at over 200 locations throughout the district on Wednesday.
According to an official statement provided to GNS, the police targeted the residences and properties of JeI members and their associates as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the terror infrastructure and its support network at the grassroots level.
Over the past four days, authorities have conducted more than 400 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) across various parts of Kulgam. These efforts have focused on the premises of over-ground workers (OGWs), JKNOPS affiliates, places with past encounters, and suspected hideouts of active or deceased militants. Approximately 500 individuals associated with JKNOPS and other banned organizations have been interrogated, with several being detained and transferred to District Jail Mattan, Anantnag under preventive regulations.
During the raids, police seized incriminating materials and digital devices. Further interrogation and preventive actions have been initiated against several JeI members to trace and break up networks supporting militancy.
Kulgam Police reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism and its support structures, vowing to maintain peace and public order within the district, the statement concluded.
