Srinagar, Feb 20: In a significant administrative shake-up, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, ordered the immediate transfer and posting of 22 IAS and JKAS officers on Friday.
The reshuffle, aimed at streamlining governance across the Union Territory, was formalized through Government Order No. 230-JK(GAD) of 2026.
Key Top-Level Appointments
Several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers have been assigned pivotal roles in major departments:
- Ashwani Kumar (IAS: 1992): Appointed as Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Power Development Department, with additional charge of the Mining Department.
- Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma (IAS: 1994): Currently Financial Commissioner (ACS), Tourism; he will now also lead the Agriculture Production Department.
- Shailendra Kumar (IAS: 1995): Transferred and posted as Financial Commissioner (ACS), Finance Department.
- M. Raju (IAS: 2005): Commissioner/Secretary, GAD, takes on the additional charge of the Health and Medical Education Department.
- R. Alice Vaz (IAS: 2005): Posted as Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring, with additional charge of the Information Department.

- Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid: Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla.
- Shahzad Alam: Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam.
- Minga Sherpa: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur.
- Kumar Abhishek: Deputy Commissioner, Reasi.
- Krishan Lal (JKAS): Deputy Commissioner, Doda.
Other Notable Postings
Akriti Sagar (IAS) has been named Managing Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), J&K. Meanwhile, Owais Ahmed (IAS) will lead as Director of Skill Development, and Dr. Sagar D. Dattatray (IAS) has been appointed as Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir.
Finally, Harvinder Singh (IAS) takes over as Director of Employment, while also overseeing Mission Youth and Mission YUVA.
