LG Manoj Sinha Hails Union Budget 2026-27 as ‘Forward-Looking’ and ‘Employment-Oriented’

JAMMU:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has officially welcomed the Union Budget 2026-27, describing it as a pragmatic fiscal roadmap designed to accelerate India’s economic growth. According to the LG, the budget successfully balances ambitious infrastructure goals with a deep commitment to social welfare and job creation.

A Roadmap to a $5 Trillion Economy

In a statement released on Sunday, LG Sinha emphasized that the budget provides a clear trajectory for India to reach the $5 trillion economy milestone in the coming years. He noted that the fiscal policy focuses on seven strategic sectors to drive manufacturing and strengthen national infrastructure.

Boost for Jammu & Kashmir Tourism and Jobs

The Lieutenant Governor extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for specific initiatives targeting the Union Territory. Key highlights include:

  • Sustainable Mountain Trails: New projects aimed at developing ecologically friendly trails across J&K.
  • Job Creation: These initiatives are expected to generate significant employment for local youth.
  • Tourism Impetus: A renewed focus on making J&K a premier destination for sustainable travel.

Tech Innovation and Self-Reliance

LG Sinha highlighted the budget’s focus on future-ready technologies and domestic production, noting several transformative impacts:

  • India Semiconductor Mission 2.0: Renewed momentum for the semiconductor industry.
  • Rare Earth Zones: Strategies to reduce import dependence on rare earth elements.
  • AI and Services: Positioning Artificial Intelligence and the service sector at the heart of India’s economic strategy.

“The Budget 2026–27 presents an ambitious vision to achieve developed economy status in less than two decades. It promises unprecedented empowerment for youth, women, and farmers,” the LG stated.

Strengthening Domestic Supply Chains

The Lieutenant Governor concluded by noting that by prioritizing MSMEs, healthcare, urban development, and electronics, the country is set to expand domestic production. This comprehensive approach is expected to enhance India’s global standing while ensuring long-term, sustainable employment generation.
