Bandipora, July 28 Babar Rather): Nestled an otherwise quaint Saderkote Payeen village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a young boy namely Faizan Mushtaq would go endlessly dreaming of words and verses with little knowledge that this passion will someday ultimately land him in national recognition and inspire countless others along the way.
Faizan Mushtaq, the son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh, at an age of mere 18, achieved a remarkable feat when he was honored with the prestigious Rashtriya Prerna Award (National Inspiration Award) 2023 in the ‘Writers category’ for his debut book, “When Love Lasts” – a collection of heartfelt poems exploring love, heartbreak and hope striking a chord with readers and critics alike.
The award ceremony held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, by India Book of Star Records in association with Rashtriya Vaikalpik Upchar Paddhati Parishad saw Faizan’s talent and dedication acknowledged by dignitaries, including the Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, who presented him with the award. The event’s chief guest, Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani, praised Faizan’s literary prowess and commended his contribution to the world of literature.
Journey as a poet
Faizan’s journey as a poet began in his early years. His passion for poetry was evident even as a child, scribbling verses in his notebook. However, it was during his 11th-grade days that he started nurturing his poetic flair more seriously. Inspired by the works of renowned poets like Allama Iqbal and Khalil Gibran’s “The Sword of Allah,” Faizan decided to pour his thoughts and emotions onto paper, evolving from essays to soul-stirring poetry.
Guided by mentors like Shabir Sir from Hajin and Faheem Ul Islam, a distinguished author and recipient of the “Best Young Writer of India” Award in 2019, Faizan honed his skills and found the courage to pursue his passion more vigorously.
While Faizan’s poetic journey has been extraordinary, he remains grounded and appreciative of the support he received from his family, particularly his parents, who encouraged him to balance his academic pursuits with his creative endeavors. Despite achieving exceptional results in his 12th class exams in the Medical stream, Faizan’s ambitions extend beyond the realm of poetry. He aspires to become a doctor by pursuing MBBS.
Faizan’s success represents a growing trend among young authors, who are bringing fresh perspectives to the world of poetry. With boundless determination and a thirst for learning, he believes that poetry will continue to reach new heights in the years to come.
Rashtriya Prerna Award
As Faizan humbly accepts the Rashtriya Prerna Award, he realizes that this recognition is just the beginning of a remarkable journey. His unwavering dedication to both his passion and education signifies that the sky’s the limit for this talented young man.
On Wednesday, Faizan was felicitated by all the teachers of Ameen Academy, which played a pivotal role in his journey to the prestigious national award. The teachers paid a visit to his home, expressing their heartfelt appreciation for his remarkable achievement and gave him a copy of the Holy Quran as a token of their blessings and support.
In the end, Faizan’s inspiring story serves as a testament to the power of dreams, determination, and the belief that true talent knows no boundaries. From a backward village in Bandipora to the national stage, Faizan Mushtaq has proven that when love for a craft lasts, it can pave the way for a future that knows no bounds.
