New Delhi, 21st September 2025: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s recent admission about vote theft during the Assembly elections has ignited fierce political controversy. Gupta’s statement in a television interview, where she alleged that for 70 years Congress hacked electronic voting machines (EVMs) without consequence, but BJP faced backlash for similar actions, drew sharp reactions from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal reacted on social media platform X with a pointed question, “What is Delhi Chief Minister saying?” His party’s National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda also condemned the statement, calling Congress and BJP “brothers in crime” who manipulate EVMs and labeled them “murderers of democracy” who misuse constitutional institutions to retain power.Dhanda asserted that Rekha Gupta’s remarks confirmed that BJP secured power in Delhi through vote theft. He detailed that AAP repeatedly raised concerns and filed complaints with the Election Commission about electoral malpractices including fake votes in Kejriwal’s constituency and illicit distribution of goods by BJP workers during elections, but no action was taken.Highlighting the silence of Congress on these issues, Anurag Dhanda accused the party of indirectly aiding BJP’s victory by not opposing violations of the Model Code of Conduct. He claimed Congress contested elections only to attempt to defeat AAP, fully aware of an impending zero-seat outcome.
Declaring that both BJP and Congress have historically engaged in corrupt practices during elections, Dhanda emphasized that AAP remains the sole party dedicated to working for the people’s welfare. He reiterated AAP’s commitment demonstrated in Delhi and ongoing efforts in Punjab to uphold democratic integrity.
This controversy reflects heightened political tensions in Delhi, underscoring allegations of electoral fraud and the urgent demand for safeguarding democratic processes in the capital’s governance.
